Campaign

Ships, not towers

Defend from every side

Post a fleet, not a turret

There's no path for the rocks to follow. They come from whichever bearings the next wave picks, and the red arrows show where. Build ships inside your command ring and post them toward the arrows. They fly out, chase, dodge and shoot on their own, and you can move any of them mid-wave.

Big rocks split when you shoot them. Break one far out and the pieces scatter wide; break it next to your station and the pieces rain down on you.

Four players' stations around the home world TERRA in a co-op game

Co-op for 2–4

One home world, everyone's problem

Every pilot runs their own station around a shared planet. Rocks that get past you hit the home world, and if it falls, everyone loses.

Research is shared: when one pilot buys Lance Mk II, every Lance on the team upgrades. Wallets aren't. Each of you earns and spends your own ore and crystal, so decide together who builds what. A win is everyone's: every pilot keeps the stars the team earned.

Boss waves

Then the Colossus comes

A rock bigger than your station, slow and stubborn, on a level's boss waves. Guns chip at it. Lance beams cut it deepest, so the team that saved crystal for its Lances is the team that's still standing.

  • Twelve levels

From First Contact to Event Horizon, each adding a new rock, ship or twist. Win up to three stars on Normal by keeping your station healthy.

  • Hard and Extreme

The same levels, meaner. Hard starts your station damaged, with no repairs or shields. Extreme leaves you one hit from gone, in one continuous wave.

  • Star chart

Stars from the campaign buy permanent perks on four branches, each rank opening the next, with a bright star at the end of each route. Refund any time.

  • Items

Wins pay cores. Spend them mid-fight, solo or in co-op, on six one-shot powers, from a Strike missile to the Nova that wipes the field.

Siege

Take the fight to their base

Siege on the medium map: a mender warps out to rebuild a derelict while the fleet warps lane by lane to Rigel's base.

Your main base sits at one end of a map of circles, the enemy's at the other, and derelict stations wait in between. Build a fleet, push it across the map one circle at a time, and bring down their main base before they bring down yours.

Three maps: Small, a row of three circles; Medium, two lanes and a middle; and 2v2, with two bases a side.

Who you play

  • The computer on Easy, Normal or Hard. It mines, rebuilds, gathers its army and goes in when it's stronger. Play 1v1, or 2v2 with a computer ally.
  • Friends online, 1v1 or 2v2. Everyone picks a side, and the computer takes any seat nobody does: two friends against two computers, or one of you each with a computer teammate.
  • Warp one circle at a time

Ships warp along the links between circles, one jump at a time, no skipping. They arrive shielded for a few seconds, so an attack can settle in before the defence opens up.

  • Rebuild derelicts

Send a mender to a derelict and it rebuilds it into your outpost, with its own command ring, gun and hangar. The mender goes into the build. Every circle you hold builds ships.

  • Every planet pays its own mix

Each circle has its own planet. Home pays steadily, the side circles are rich in ore, the middle is rich in crystal and fought over. Miners work the planets of the circles you hold.

  • Rocks hit both sides

Waves of rocks keep coming in the background, at both of you. Send the whole fleet out and your base takes the next wave alone.

  • Sudden death

After about fifteen minutes the waves come faster and bigger, and no station can be repaired. Two players who only defend don't stall for ever.

  • Destroy the main base

A destroyed outpost turns derelict again, for anyone to rebuild. The game ends when a main base falls. In 2v2, a side loses when both its bases are down.

Multiplayer

Rooms for 2–4 pilots

Co-op and Siege both play online. No accounts: pick a pilot name and go.

  • Open rooms

The room list shows the open rooms: who's hosting, what it plays and the seats left. Tap Join. Or make your own, listed for anyone or private behind a four-letter code.

  • Invite links

Invite shares a link to your room. On an Android phone with the game it opens straight into the room; without it, the link shows the code and how to get the game.

  • Ready, then start

Everyone taps Ready, then the host starts. In a co-op room the host picks a level everyone has opened, so nobody gets dragged ahead of their own campaign.

  • Rooms outlive games

After a game, everyone lands back in the same room for the next one. Co-op picks the next level after a win; a loss keeps the same one for another try.

The fleet

Five classes, two ways to max each one

Mk II makes a class stronger. Mk III makes you choose: each class has two specs, and the one you research applies to every ship of that class.

  • Dart Interceptor

Fast, cheap, your first line. Mk III: Swarm, a triple spread shot, or Seeker, homing missiles.

  • Hammer Gunship

Shells that burst on impact. Mk III: Barrage, three shells a salvo, or Graviton, a huge burst that slows rocks.

  • Lance Rail lancer

A long-range beam. Mk III: Piercer, hits every rock in line, or Overcharge, one massive long-range hit.

  • Mender Repair

Your station never heals on its own. Menders do, and in Siege they rebuild derelicts. Mk III: Aegis shields the station, or Field repairs everything nearby.

  • Miner Crystal miner

Flies out past your defences to mine crystal, which pays for the best research. Mk III: Hauler, triple cargo, or Armored, a heavy hull and its own gun.

Know your rocks. Iron shrugs off guns but not beams. Crystal rocks shatter under bombs. Comets are too fast for bombs, but missiles catch them.
